Definite delay to publication

I had hoped today would be the day Awakening went up on Amazon, but unfortunately I am still without cover art. At this rate I think mid-July is the earliest the novella will be available, but it could be as late as August 1.

In the meantime, here is an excerpt:
Lilly slept and dreamed. She dreamed of blood.

A blood-stained body lay in the woods. It was her mother, her skin unnaturally white and waxy, her face a mask of anguish. But as Lilly came closer, she noticed the head was topped with short, dark, curly hair instead of long auburn tresses. No, it wasn’t her mother; it was Torren. His mouth was open, but there was no anguish in his expression. Instead his face expressed joy. The kind of joy Lilly had not felt since she was a child, too young to be afraid. His eyes were open and looking at her. His chest twitched convulsively and she thought he was having trouble breathing, but then she realized he was laughing. He lay naked in the clearing, covered in blood, laughing. Laughing up at her with a look of pure joy. His bloody hand rose from his chest. His blood-covered fingers reached up toward her mouth. Lilly screamed. She couldn’t move. The hand drew nearer. She could smell the blood on it, sweet and heady and thick. Torren’s mouth was so red. Lilly screamed and screamed, but there was no sound.
 Stay tuned for more updates...
